Born at Nor[th]church, Herts, where his father then lived under a certificate from St. Paul’s. Bound apprentice by indenture, now produced, dated 29 December 1777, by Bedford Charity to William Robinson, Kempston, cordwainer, for a term of 7 years. Served Robinson for about 4 years 9 months in Kempston, following which Robinson removed to Biddenham. Continued to serve Robinson there for about a year until latter’s death. Due then to illness, Page was permitted to return to his father in Bedford. Lived with his father for about 7 weeks, and was then turned over by his late master’s executrix, with the consent of the Trustees of Bedford Charity, to the deceased’s son James Robinson, Kempston, cordwainer, serving him there from 24 November 1783 until 29 December 1784, when his apprenticeship expired. Slept at the house of Robinson [Jnr.] in Kempston until about September 1784, when his place of residence began to alternate between Robinson’s house and that of his father in Bedford, with Robinson’s permission, due to an ague [illness] so that he might be better taken care of. However, worked constantly with Robinson when well enough until the end of his apprenticeship. Did not sleep for the last 40 nights successively either in Kempston or St. Paul’s, but believed he slept for the greater part of that period in St. Paul’s. On expiry of his term of apprenticeship, received the Benefaction from the Bedford Charity. Married Ruth at Bromham, 27 June 1790. One child, William, aged about 8 months. No other settlement.
