    Let himself as a yearly servant to William Strangward, Upton, Hunts., farmer, about 1781 at a yearly wage of 8 guineas, serving Strangward there for a whole year, receiving his wages accordingly. Stated that he rented the house in which he now dwelt, named the Spread Eagle in St. Paul’s, from Mr. Fowler at a rent of £9 per annum, and that he also rented part of a close of pasture in Elstow from John Cowley, Elstow, at a rent of £1.1/- per annum: he now occupied the latter and was to continue tenant thereof until Old-Midsummer 1794. Married Mary, spinster, at Upton about 1786. Three children: John, aged between 6 and 7 years; Ann, aged about 5 years; and Emanuel, aged between 3 and 4 years.
