    reckons Rouse well out; angry at her curt dismissal of him Rouse been very near to allying himself to an uncertain disposition - "saved difficult marriage" won't tell 'Aunt M'. "Her natural anxiety for Tressie sharpened her wits" knows they cannot marry but wants to prevent them falling in love.
