    Let himself as yearly servant to John France, farmer, Filgrave, Bucks., about Michaelmas 1787 at a yearly wage of 6 guineas, serving and living with France 2 years. Let himself to Ann Page, St. Paul’s, inn keeper, about a week after Michaelmas 1789 as ostler for a year until the following Michaelmas at a wage of 2 guineas over and above vail [gratuity], serving Ann Page until a few days after Michaelmas 1790 but believing it was not quite a year. Let himself as a weekly servant to William Watkin, merchant, St. Paul’s, shortly after Michaelmas 1790 at a weekly wage of 3/6d, the whole year round except during the month of harvest, for which was to receive 2 guineas. Served Watkin until a few days after Michaelmas 1792 when, on calculation by Watkin of the amount of wages due to him for the year, he received a single payment of about £10 for that period. Married Elizabeth Grey, spinster, at St. Paul’s, 6 November 1792.
