Born at Wellingborough, Northants., where father James Hogden then lived. Was natural son by Hannah Matthews. Bound apprentice by Indenture to Thomas Abbott, Wellingborough, cordwainer, for 7 years about Michaelmas, 1783, serving whole term, but believing the King’s Duty was unpaid. No other settlement. Married Elizabeth Guess, spinster, at St. Paul’s, May 1790. Daughter Ann aged nearly one year.
