    Henry Brown: on the 19 April he was at the White Hart Public House in Luton. Thomas Spacey the younger was there, as were several other persons. He saw David Shaw, Richard Bigg go past Spacey. Shaw went first and put his hand into Spacey's side pocket. They went round the room and he did not see them again until they were in custody. Shaw was dressed in a velveteen jacket, corduroy trousers and Blucher shoes when he was in the room. When he saw Shaw in custody he had had on corduroy trousers and a smock frock, but not the same boot he had before. Shaw had not come into the room with Spacey. Edward Barratt: he was at the White Hart with Henry Brown and saw Spacey there. He saw Shaw & Bigg go past Spacey. Shaw went first and put his hand into Spacey's breast pocket. He did not see Shaw again until he was in custody, where we was wearing different clothing and shoes. Thomas Spacey the younger: he was at the White Hart public House in Luton on 19 April between 6 and 7 o’clock in the evening. He has 17 shillings and 10 pence when he went in his breast pocket and 6 shillings and 4 pence in his trousers. He saw Shaw & Bigg there. Shaw was near him and was wearing a velveteen jacket. Spacey called for a pint of beer, and put his hand in his breast pocket and missed some money. He found he had lost 8 shillings and 10 pence. He spoke of it to Brown & Barratt and who said they saw Shaw's hand in his pocket. He searched for Shaw but could not fid him. He went back to the White Hart and Bigg came in with Shaw following. Shaw had a round frock on. He asked Shaw if he knew anything of the money and he said no. Spacey told him his hand had been seen in his pocket and Shaw called him a liar. Spacey gave Shaw into custody. Sophia Field: kept the house of the prisoner's father in Luton. On 19 April between 4 and 5 o'clock Shaw had a velveteen jacket on. He returned about 7 o'clock and had had a smock frock on and the velveteen jacket on his arm. He put the jacket in a chair and went out again. He told he had had borrowed the smock and she had never seen him wear anything like that before. John Keating: on 19 April Spacey gave the prisoner into his custody, saying his pocket had been picked of 8 shillings and 10pence. He went to the prisoners lodging and saw Mrs Field. He searched the prisoner and found 3 pence.
