    Mary, wife of James Smith of St Matthew, Ipswich, labourer (before her marriage Mary Scrivener, singlewoman) taken 20 February 1828. Who saith that before her marriage with James Smith in February 1810 she was delivered of a female illegitimate child in St Paul, Bedford The child is now living and known by the name Sarah Scrivener, and is residing in St Matthew. The child was affiliated to George Gooding and was afterwards maintained for a considerable time in the House of Industry, Bedford. James Haill, Overseer of St Matthew, Ipswich 20th February 1828 who saith that Sarah Scrivener is now chargeable to the parish.
