- Scope and ContentJohn Wolston (senior) of Keysoe, labourer - during the last 12 months he has lost wood. The piece of wood now produced is his property. He saw it in his yard yesterday laying near the door as he was going to Chapel. There was a mop laying upon it. The value of the wood is 3d. John Woolston the younger of Keysoe, labourer - yesterday afternoon he stopped in his father's house while he went to Chapel About 1/2 hour after his father left he saw Thomas Smith come into his father's yard, take the mop off the piece of wood and take the wood. Smith then went away. He followed Smith and accused him of taking his father's wood. Smith said he would take it back, which he did. He told his father when he came hom and then informed the police officer who appreheded Smith. He did not lose sight of Smith before he spoke to him. When he spoke to him Smith was on the road. Charles Dale, police officer - he apprehended Smith that morning. Smith said he did not take the piece of wood for the purpose of stealing it but to kill some rats he saw, Thomas Smith - he took the piece of wood to hit a rat, but with no intention to steal it.
