- Scope and ContentSarah Houghton - when she took the basket from Mr Coombs she did not know there was anything in the basket other than a pocket handkerchief. When she looked there was the pair of slippers. She did not know what to do with them so she took them to Mr Lovell and asked him to take care of them until someone called for them. The handkerchief in which the shoes are now wrapped is the handkerchief which was in the basket. Martha Houghton - she has nothing to say. She had the basket in which the shoes and handkerchief were and when the Constable asked her for it he gave it to him. She did not know the slippers were in it.
