I was born at Cotton End in the parish of Cardington 21st March 1821 and am the son of Edward Rawley of Cotton End, labourer, and Sarah his wife, formerly Sarah Parrott, spinster who were married at the parish church of Cardington. I have heard my father say he gained a settlement by service in Cardington parish and his father was a settled inhabitant of Cardington. I have done no act to gain a settlement in my own right. I was married on 12th October instant at the parish church of St Paul, Bedford to Elizabeth Beldam of St Paul, spinster.
