- Scope and ContentI was born in the parish of Newport Pagnell in the County of Buckingham 2nd March 1823 and am the son of James Wicken of Newport Pagnell, bricklayer , deceased, and Mary Ann his wife formerly Mary Ann Harris, spinster, who were married at the parish church of Newport Pagnell. My father died about 13 years ago and during his lifetime was a settled inhabitant of Newport Pagnell and his father before him. My mother married about eleven years ago Valentine Dix of Newport Pagnell, pensioner, and I lived with her and her husband until about three years since. I have done no act to gain a settlement in my own right. I was married on 12th October instant at the parish church of St Paul, Bedford, to Mary Ann Bonfield of St Paul, spinster.
