I was born in the parish of Faversham in the County of Kent on 9th July 1820 and am the son of William Henry Jeffery of Faversham, late a schoolmaster but now following no occupation, and Jane his wife, formerly Jane Lansfield, widow, who were married at the parish church of Faversham. My father is a settled inhabitant of Faversham and gained his settlement there by renting a house in West Street of Mr Burton. I have done no act to gain a settlement in my own right. I was married on Tuesday 18th instant at the parish Church of St Mary to Susannah Burrows of the same parish, spinster.
