- Scope and ContentI was 23 years of age on 2nd February last and was born at Cranfield, and am the son of John Roberts, late of St John, Bedford, plasterer, and Kitty his wife formerly Kitty Symonds of Cranfield, Beds, spinster, who were married at the parish church of Cranfield about 30 years ago. My father's settlement was at Cranfield where he was born and of which place his father was a settled inhabitant. On 6th November 1834 I was bound apprentice by Indentures to Thomas Rayment Berrill of St Paul, Bedford, bricklayer, for the term of seven years. I served him and resided with him in his house in St Paul for about five years and eight months of the said term when in consequence of his ill usage I left his service and did not return to him. I believe the indentures of apprenticeship are still in his possession. I was married on Sunday last 7th instant at the parish church of St Mary to Kitty Chandler of St Mary, spinster.
