I am about 21 years of age, was born as I have been informed and believe at Sharnbrook of which parish my fatehr is a settled inhabitant. About eight years ago I came to Bedford where I have resided from that time to the present working as a journeyman sawyer for different masters but not under any yearly hiring. In May last I hired a house in Adelaide Square, St Paul of Mr Sharman from quarter to quarter at the rent of two pounds ten shillings per quarter and in which house I am now residing. I have done no other act to gain a settlement in my own right. I was married on 5th July instant at St Paul to Emma Elizabeth Osborn, with whom I had a portion of twenty pounds from the Trustees of the Bedford Charity.
