    James White of Luton, labourer - he works for Mr Clarke. The whip produced is his whip, but the biggest end of the handle has been cut off. He lost it on the night of the fire at Fog Hall in the parish of Luton. He stopped at Mr [Daines?] the butchers. There were several [young lads about including Peck. When he looked for it later the whip and the lads were gone. This was on Friday about 3 weeks ago. William Taylor - he bought the whip produced from Thomas Peck on the day of the Ampthill Fair. It was in the street against Mr [Daines?] about 3 weeks ago. He gave him 4d for it. Peck was carrying the whip in his hand when he bought it from him.
