- Scope and ContentJohn Cooper: lived at Lower Stondon. On 21 November he left in his hovel a cart in which he'd returned in from Shefford. In the cart was; a bag, which would hold 4 bushels and was almost full of beans and oats, a pack sheet, a small basket and a cloth in which he'd taken some butter to Shefford. The bag was marked with the name of Mr Powers of Stamford. In the morning, he found the oats and beans on the ground and the gates standing open. The bag, basket, sheet and cloth were missing. He saw John Arnold's cart standing in his hovel, loaded with potatoes in sacks. One of the sacks had been emptied and a few potatoes were lying on the floor.
