- Scope and ContentI am about 27 years of age, was born in Wootton. I was brought up by my grandfather who resided at Wootton and carried on the trade of carpenter. When I was 20 years of age I let myself to Mr Charles Wright Hyne of the parish of St John, Bedford, surgeon as a servant at the yearly wages of eight pounds a year. I remained with him three years. After I had been with Mr Hyne about twelve months he removed to St Mary, Bedford where he remained to the best of my belief about fourteen months and then removed to St Paul where he now resides. After I left Mr Hynes service I went to Bromham and worked as a journeyman carpenter with Mr Maxey in whose employ I now am. Was marred 12th February instant at St Cuthbert, Bedford to Sarah formerly Clara* [sic] Craft, spinster. * St Cuthbert's parish register records her as Clara Craft.
