    I am about 24 years of age, was born in some part of Ireland where my father was stationed as a soldier of the Bedford militia. My father returned to Bedford and when I was about 14 years of age I was placed out apprentice by the Trustees of the Harpur Charity to John Loyley of Eaton Socon, collar and harness maker for the term of seven years. I served my full term and then came to Bedford and worked as a journeyman to Mr Barnes of St Paul by the week. I was married on 1st February instant at St Paul to Sarah Perkins.
