- Scope and ContentI am about 27 years of age, was born in St Cuthbert, Bedford. When I was about fifteen years of age I was put apprentice by the Trustees of the Harpur Charity to my father Samuel Clarke who then resided in St Cuthbert but now resides in St John. He has lived in the parish of St John about seven years and rented a house at £16 per annum. I served my full term of seven years with my father and then worked as a journeyman to him which I continued to do until about eighteen months ago when my father gave me a share of his business. I now reside in lodgings in St Paul, Bedford. Was married on 13 November last [1836] at St Paul to Sarah Bonfield.
