  • Scope and Content
3 weeks ago last Monday (October 25) he asked Thomas Bason to set some wheat for him on a piece of ground he occupies. Bason was to do it the next morning but it was wet and he could not go. He saw Bason one day last week and he said he would set the wheat the next fine day. He told Bason the wheat was at his mother's house. Last Wednesday (November 3) Bason came to see him as he was at work and said he had been setting the wheat in. [Long discussion about the difficulties of setting the wheat in the wet weather, extent of the wheat to be set - 13 poles - and negotiations over price] He gave Bason 1s 6d for the work. When he went to the ground the next night he found that Bason had set only about 1/2 a pole and had not raked it in as he claimed.
