Settlement in favour of wife and stepson confirmed: to said wife freehold, copyhold and leasehold estates and all personal estate for life and then to stepson, John Joseph Fossey Dawson. With codicil: wife and stepson have died since date of will; to Mary Ann Fossey Dawson (widow of said John Joseph Fossey Dawson) now living with testator at Bleak Hall, Kensworth, all freehold, leasehold and copyhold estates and personal estate absolutely. Said Mary Ann Fossey Dawson appointed executrix. With note on front as to death of Edward Fossey at Bleak Hall on 14 October 1882. Caveat entered 25 October on behalf of certain nephews. Testator married 1849 Mary the widow of – Dawson “[but her maiden name was Fossey and probably she was a cousin of Testator]”. “Personalty about £300.” Also marked “affidavits to prove will sworn 18 November [18]82”. With details of valuation of estate and property (total £693 10s). Probate (Principal Probate Registry). With outline pedigree from a common great grandfather.
