    i) Henry Gates, Luton, grocer, Charles Bennett Gates, Bridge Road, Molesey, Surrey, grocer, Elizabeth Jane Gates, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, spinster; ii) Albert Gutteridge, Dunstable, gentleman; iii) Thomas Bourn, Upper Houghton Regis, hurdle maker; iv) Thomas Daniel Cook, Brewers Hill, near Dunstable, farmer. Reciting mortgage of 20 October 1875: a) Thomas Bourn, b) John Gates (since deceased): 4 messuages, cottages etc on NW side of Union Street, Houghton Regis, late in occupation of – Nash, Ezekiel Webb, Charles Stebbins and -- Adams, but then of Mrs Room, William Brazier, John Fountain and John Groom, NE Thomas Smith, SW Gregory Odell Clark, NW(part) Burr Close, the property of Edward Burr; to secure repayment of £100 and interest of 5% per annum. Reciting also will of John Gates (who died in August 1879) dated 6 April 1877 by which he made i) executors. Probate (Probate Service of Admiralty Division of the High Court of Justice) in February 1880. Now in consideration of £100 paid to i) executors and £25 to ii) by iv), i) and ii) assign to iv): 2 principal sums of £100 and £25; premises comprised in said 2 indentures of mortgage to be redeemed on payment of £125 and interest at 6% per annum. If iii) pays interest within 14 days of it becoming due, then 5% shall be acceptable. Approved as altered by Mr Gates' executors. Copy signatures and witnesses. Endorsed receipts.
