- Scope and ContentGeorge Peters: he received information that men had been in Roundabout Field in Potton where he had potato pits. He went to the pits and saw 2 men; one of them kneeling down and the other standing by. There was another man, Samuel Chamberlain, about 40 or 50 yards away, and he appeared to be watching. He could identify the other 2 men as Townsend & Woods. Woods was knelling with his hand in the pit. Peters asked him what business he had at his pit and this critical time. The 3 men went off together.Statement of the accused - William Woods: said that they were going to his fathers potatoes but he stopped to tie his shoe. They stopped to speak to Peters and he warned them off the ground. Samuel Chamberlain: said that it was as Woods said.
