- Production dateFrom: 1834 To: 1834
- Scope and ContentI am 29 years of age, was born in Marston Moretaine where my father Thomas Slater resided and belonged, having obtained his settlement by servitude. I continued in that parish working as a labourer by the week (but never let myself for a year to anyone) until about 3 years ago. I then came to Bedford and worked in the same manner by the week for about a year. I then returned to Marston Moretain for a year working in the same way. I then came back to Bedford till the present time and have not done any act since to gain a settlement in my own right. I was married at Marston Moretaine on 12 October 1823 to my now wife Sarah but have not any child. I have received relief from the Overseers of the poor of Marston Moretain at several times in the last year to the amount of about ten shillings, and I went over to Marston Moretaine on the 6th instant for further relief when the Overseer declined to give me any.
