- Scope and ContentAnn Nichols: said that they had gone to the close and picked a few bits of the ground. They were only in the close a few minutes. Samuel Perkins asked them why they did not get a handful. They did not take a sheaf. Elizabeth Nichols: said she was not in the close. Jane Matthews: said she had no more than a glean and a half under her arm and none on her head. Ann Wooding: wife of William Wooding of Harrold. She was with the 3 women gleaning on 26 August. They were in Dungle Hill and after it rained they were going home. They went into William Rogers close and Ann Nichols and Jane Matthews picked some up and then went to speak to Samuel Perkins. Perkins said "Jane why did you not make your handful up. I could not but laugh to see you". Elizabeth Nichol never went into the field.
