I am about 23 years of age, was born in St Pancras, County of Middlesex where my father John Smith, lamplighter, then resided and belonged, which settlement was obtained by hiring a house and premises. I have followed the business of a lamplighter ever since I was ten years of age and have not done any act to gain a settlement in my own right. I was married at St Paul on the 13th instant to Mary Covington.
