  • Scope and Content
I am 23 years of age, was born in Hawnes [Haynes] where my ather John Young then lived and belonged all his life. About April 1825 my father placed me with Benjamin Harrison of Hadley, Middlesex, carpenter to learn his trade. My father paid him ten pounds. There was a paper drawn up by Mr harrison by way of apprentice Indenture by which I was to serve him from 1st May 1825 for three years and a half. I was to receive and did receive eight shillings a week until November 1825, nine shillings per week from that time to November 1826, eleven shillings a week til November 1827 and thirteen shillings a week til November 1828. I continued to work for my Master and received pay for the whole time, but I lodged and boarded with William Prutton in the said parish of Hadley. The paper writing dated the 21st July 1825 said to be under their hands only signed John Young, Benjamin Harrison but was not stamped and sealed indented or witnessed. It is now produced. I have not done any other act to the best of my knowledge to gain a settlement. I was married at Hawnes on 25th October 1829 to Hannah by whom I have two children John aged three years and Elizabeth aged two years. Not signed or dated.
