- Scope and ContentBarnard Cox of Salford, shopkeeper - about 9.45am that morning he was in his kitchen when he heard the latch of his house and door click. He opened the door and saw Jewet about 10 yards from him going down his garden walk. He thought Jewet had something under his jacket. He called after him 2 or 3 times. The third time he said he had got matches. He told Jewet he wanted him but he walked faster until he was out of the garden and then ran away. He ran after him down the street and caught him in Henry Somerford's woodyard. The worsted cord trousers now produced fell from under his jacket and he took the fustian frock now produced from under his frock. They are both his and were taken out of his shop. They are worth 8 shillings. Daniel Jewet - he was in distress.
