- Scope and ContentJohn Harvey: occupied a house and land in Northill. On 26 June 1850, Cornelius Kemp, who was the assistant overseer applied to him for the sum of 40 pounds, 12 shillings and 9 pence. Kemp alleged it was the sum assessed of him for the Poor Rate. Harvey was given a receipt. Harvey gave him a check on the bank of Wells, Hogge & Lindsell for the sum on 42 pounds, and he assumed Kemp gave him the difference. George Newbury: a clerk to the firm Wells, Hogge & Lindsell, bankers of Biggleswade. He supplied the check drawn on by John Harvey. The Biggleswade Union kept an account at the bank and the sum of 42 pounds was part of a sum of 174 pounds paid into the bank on behalf of the parish of Northill.
