  • Scope and Content
I am 26 years of age, was born in High Wycombe in the County of Buckingham where my father then resided but belonged to the city of Bath. When I was about 14 years of age my father placed me out apprentice to my uncle George Hall of St Mary Magdalen, Oxford, tailor for seven years. I do not know where the Indentures are. I served about 3 years there of my time when being ill my Master gave up my Indentures and I left him the trade not then agreeing with me. When I recovered my health I let myself to Daniel Thornton of St Giles, Oxford, solicitor, as a copying clerk by the year. I was to have twelve shillings a week and my board, washing and lodging. I continued with Mr Thornton til June 1829. There was a written agreement between Mr Thornton and me, to the above effect, which I believe is in the possession of his brother Mr Henry Thornton of Oxford. I have worked as a journeyman tailor ever since but have not done any other act to gain a settlement. I was married on the 23rd instant at St Paul Bedford to Ann Gazely.
