- Scope and ContentI am 26 years of age, was born in High Wycombe in the County of Buckingham where my father then resided but belonged to the city of Bath. When I was about 14 years of age my father placed me out apprentice to my uncle George Hall of St Mary Magdalen, Oxford, tailor for seven years. I do not know where the Indentures are. I served about 3 years there of my time when being ill my Master gave up my Indentures and I left him the trade not then agreeing with me. When I recovered my health I let myself to Daniel Thornton of St Giles, Oxford, solicitor, as a copying clerk by the year. I was to have twelve shillings a week and my board, washing and lodging. I continued with Mr Thornton til June 1829. There was a written agreement between Mr Thornton and me, to the above effect, which I believe is in the possession of his brother Mr Henry Thornton of Oxford. I have worked as a journeyman tailor ever since but have not done any other act to gain a settlement. I was married on the 23rd instant at St Paul Bedford to Ann Gazely.
