  • Scope and Content
I am about 40 years of age, was born in St Paul where my father George Fitzhugh who was coachman to Mr Theed Esquire resided and belonged. When I was about 16 years of age I was placed out apprentice by the Trustees of Harpur's Charity by indenture for seven years to Mercer Skevington of St Paul, shoemaker. When I had served about half my time I left my master without his consent and in about a fortnight afterwards I enlisted into His Majesty's Navy and continued in that service until August 1827 when I was discharged. I have not done any act since to the best of my knowledge to gain a settlement. I was married at St Paul on the 6th instant to Ann Savage.
