- Scope and ContentSarah Nash: Harrison joined the house as a servant of various duties on 26 April. Harrison remained in her service until 8 May when she was taken into custody. She searched Harrison before she left the house as she suspected her not to be honest. She found a handkerchief tied around Harrison's waist with 6 shillings and sixpence tied in the corner of it. The prisoner said the handkerchief and the money were Nash's property; she had taken the money from the purse on the bureau. Nash told the prisoner if she told her the whole truth she would not prosecute her unless she was compelled to do so. William Edwards: on the 8 May, he went to the house of George Nash to take the accused into custody on another charge. Whilst there, he asked Mrs Nash to go and check if anything of hers was missing. On her return Mrs Nash produced a handkerchief and 6 shillings and sixpence she had found on the accused. The prisoner said she had taken the money from the bureau whilst the master was at the door.Statement of the accused: she wished to say nothing
