- Production dateFrom: 1831 To: 1831
- Scope and ContentI am about 23 years of age, was born in the parish of St Paul where my father John Gillham resided and belonged. When I was 14 years of age I was place out apprentice by the Trustees of Harpur's Charity by Indenture dated 31 December 1822 to Henry Meadows of Newport Pagnell, County of Buckingham, grocer, for seven years. I served about two years of my apprenticeship at Newport Pagnell with my said Master when we parted by consent. I have worked ever since as a journeyman hatter with my father in Bedford and with my brothers Joseph and Charles in Birmingham, London, Leicester and Liverpool but have not done any act to gain a settlment in my own right. I was married at St Paul on 8 February 1830 to Julia by whom I have one child named George aged 6 weeks.
