I am forty years of age, was born in St Paul where my father William Purser, a tailor, resided and belonged. When I was 14 years of age I was placed out apprentice by the Trustees of the harpur Charity by Indenture dated 9th October 1804 for seven years to George Walker of St Sepulchre, Northampton, shoemaker. I served the whole of my time with my said master. In May 1812 I enetered into the Bedfordshire Militia and in 1814 I volunteered into the 14th Regiment of Foot and was discharged from that regiment in May 1821 at Chatham. I then came to Bedford and have worked at my trade there ever since without doing any act since my apprenticeship to gain another settlement. In July 1821 I was married at St Paul to Ann Fitzhugh by whom I have two children namely Charles aged 9 years and George aged 7 years. About eight years ago Mr Allinson one of the Overseers of the Poor of St Sepulchre aforesaid for relief and he gave me eight shillings and upon another application about four years since he relieved me with fifteen shillings.
