    By an order made 19 April 1830 John Wykes of St John, labourer was adjudged to be the reputed father of a male child of Maria Fleming, singlewoman. By the said order John Wykes should forthwith pay the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor the sum of two pounds two shillings and sixpence for charges and expenses incident to the birth of the child, also fourteen shillings and sixpence for the cost of apprehending and securing John Wykes. He the said John Wykes hath had due notice of the Order and a true copy has been personally delivered to him by William Chapman. John Wykes hath made default in mot performing the said order against which no appeal hath been made. The sum of six pounds thirteen shillings and sixpence is now due and owing and hath been demanded of him Johns Wykes by William Chapman but John Wykes hath neglected and refused to pay the same. William Chapman prayeth justice.
