- Scope and ContentThomas Bartram of Harrowden in parish of Cardington, labourer - on Saturday 6 March he was going home from Bedford at about 10.20pm and saw Samuel Higham on his master John Shepherd Cranfield's faggot stack. He had a faggot under his arm and came off with it. He went up to Higham and when he was within about 6 yards he laid it down. Edward Keech and Thomas Cook were with him, They hallowed to Higham - when they hallowed he put the faggot down and went away. They went after him and fetched him back. They said they would tell Mr Cranfield if Higham did not give them some beer. He said he would not have any beer but would tell Mr Cranfield, which he did the same night. Higham told the other two men he would give them some beer. John Shepherd Cranfield of Harrowden, farmer - from what Thomas Bathram told him he went to his faggot stack and saw one faggot lying about a yard from the stack as Barthram had said. The prisoner had no business on the stack or to take a faggot.
