He was in Bolnhurst on 3 April relieving the parish, with a cart of bread, the property of the Bedford Union. The prisoner came up to him and demanded relief. He told him to come back after he had relieving the general poor (the old people). When he had finished Crick returned and said "relief I want and if you don't give me it I will take it for I mean to have some". He told him he would take his application. He took his application and found him to be an able bodied man, out of work and belonging to that parish. He had relieved him the previous December. He made him out an order but Crick refused it, and Jones told him if he were to take any of the read from the cart he would be punished. Crick took a four pound loaf from the cart and said eh would keep it. He called the constable and Crick was taken into custody.
