- Scope and ContentJane Ramridge of Barton, single woman - on Monday 30 November she went to Luton to sell her plait and left the articles named in her house. On her return John Philpot who lived in the same house told her that Ann Cooper, a lodger, was gone and he believed she had some of her clothes. She searched her boxes and discovered the articles had gone. She procured a warrant for the apprehension of Ann Cooper. The petticoats, gown, handkerchiefs, apron, stockings and bonnet now produced are hers. William Ashton, superintendent of police - on Saturday 5 December he received a warrant for the arrest of Ann Cooper. Hearing she had gone to a place called South Gate, Bone Hill, he went there and found her in the house of Edward Hayden, keeper of a beer shop. He took her into custody and found on her person one gown, two petticoats, one pair of stockings and one bonnet. Upstairs in her bed room he found a bundle containing 2 caps and 4 handkerchiefs.
