- Scope and ContentJohn Sear of Bolnhurst, labourer - during July and August he was lodging at the house of George Harpur at Bolnhurst where he had work. In August he left to go to work in Colmworth. He left a smock frock, a pair of small clothes and 2 or 3 shirts in George Harpur's care. About 12 October he went to Bolnhurst. The next day he heard from Harpur that the frock, the small clothes and one shirt were missing. On 8 November he saw the small clothes and the shirt (now produced) in the possession of George Harpur. They are his. George Harpur of Bolnhurst, labourer - John Sear left some clothes in his custody. On 13 October he missed part of them. As William Austin and another man had been lodging in his house and had left that day he suspected they had got them. On Saturday 7 November he went after Austin, who had gone to Sherington (Bucks). He found him, and he was wearing Sear's small clothes. He took Austin to Bolnhurst with him and the next day Austin pulled of the shirt which Sear claimed. Austin went to take some work at Wilden when he was apprehended by Dale, a policeman, the previous night.
