  • Scope and Content
I am about 21 years of age. I was born in the city of Carlisle in the County of Cumberland. When I was about 14 I was bound apprentice by my father to John Hull of Manchester, County of Lancaster, shoemaker to learn his trade for the term of seven years (by indentures which are not in my possession nor do I know where they are) I served my said Master in that town for three years and resided tehre during all that time but in consequence of my Master's work being very slack I then left. I have been working as a journeyman in differenct places ever since but have never been hired for one year nor to the best of my knowledge done any act to gain a settlement. I was married on 4th May at St Peter to my wife Frances Clare.
