- Scope and ContentI am about 27 years of age, was born at Warham in the County of Dorset where my father Francis Hunt and Frances his wifethen resided he being at that time a soldier in the H troop ofthe Oxford Blues quartered in that town. In February 1809 my father came to live at Bedford. In 1812 he purchased a house in the parish of St Cuthbert of Samuel Winwright for which he paid £36 but I do not know where the deeds are by which it was conveyed. My father lived and slept in that house in the parish of St Cuthbert from 1814 till about 1819 when he sold it to Joseph Covington. Joseph Covington then pulled it down and rebuilt it and my father continued as tenant at the yearly rent of five pounds till he left in the year 1825. I have never done any act to gain a settlement in my own right. I am now with child who is likely to be born a bastard and chargeable to the parish of St Cuthbert. Mark Bell of East Stockworth, County of Lincoln, rat catcher is the father.
