  • Scope and Content
I am about 21 years of age, was born in St Paul, Bedford aforesaid. About eight years ago I was bound apprentice by the Bedford Charity by Indentures bearing the date 31 December 1822 to Mr Henry Meadows of Newport, County of Buckingham for the term of seven years to learn his trade of a grocer. When I had been there about two years I left his service in consequence of a misunderstanding. I slept in Newport during the whole of the two years. I then went to live with my brother Mr Charles Gilham of Birmingham, County of Warwick, hatter as a journeyman. I was engaged by the week and paid by the week and I have continued with him to the present time upon the same terms. I was married on Monday the eighth day of February instant to Julia Brown at the parish church of St Paul, Bedford.
