I am about 20 years of age, was born in Turvey where my father Charles Negus then resided and belonged. About two years ago my father enetered into an agreement with Mr John Austin of Bedford, builder: Bedford June 16 1827 Memorandum of an agreement by John Austin, builder and Charles Negus, carpenter, parish of Turvey, County of Bedford. The said Charles Negus agrees that his son John Negus shall serve the said John Austin for the term of three years the said John Austin or his assigns to pay him the said John Negus the sum for the first year of eight shillings per week, the second year nine shillings the third year ten shillings. John Austin, Charles Negus mark, John Negus. I served my Master up to the day of his decease which was some time in April last but I am not certain of the day. i was married on Friday 3 July instant at St Paul, Bedford to Martha Negus.
