- Scope and ContentI am about 57 years of age, was born at Leighton Buzzard but my father William Kay, a tailor, belonged to the parish of St Paul abovesaid. When I was about 14 years of age I was placed out apprentice for seven years by Indenture to Mr Henry Calton, Bishops Court, Lincolns Inn, tailor. I served about six months with Mr Calton then my Master sent me to my father who had been foreman to Mr Calton but had quitted his servcie and set up in business for himself in the parish of St Paul as a Master Tailor and I went to him with my Masters consent and by his direction and served the remainder of my apprenticeship six years and ahalf with my father in St Paul. I do not knowwhere my apprentice Indentures now are. I have never done any act to gain a settlement. I was married about 30 years ago at Deal, Kent to Charlotte Pilcher.
