I have never done any act to gain a settlement in my own right in any other parish having worked as a labourer by the week or day in jobbing work. I have received relief from Mr Morris and the overseers of the poor of the parish of Ridgmont for about a year and a half at the rate of four shillings and sixpence a week - that is 3/6 for myself and one shilling a week for a woman to attend on me having been ill a great length of time. Not signed. Annotated - William Chapman died in November 1828 and the parish of Ridgmont paid all expenses.
