Deposition of Maria Crawley wife of Samuel Crawley esquire of Stockwood - John Miles charged with stealing a gold chain

Last Friday she was going to dress for riding between 2.30 and 3.00pm and had a gold chian which was attached to an eye glass. She took it off to put on her habit and laid it on the table in her dressing room. When she returned from riding she looked into a drawer where it is usually put and missed the chain. The eye glass was still there. Her bracelets which she had taken off at the same time were also still there - only the chain was gone. The chain produced is the chain she lost.
