- Scope and ContentAbraham Milemore: about 2 o'clock on 22 October he entered Mr Gregory’s hovel in Dunstable Street, Luton, to fetch a water cart. There were some linen shirts hanging out in the orchard to dry. He saw William Garner go to the clothes line and take a shirt off. Garner saw Milemore after he had taken it and dropped the shirt. He went to enquiry whose shirt it was and then went after the offender, detained him and brought him back, and gave him to the custody of Mr Hawkes. Jospeh Hawkes: on 22 October, he had shirts and other linen out to dry in Mr Gregory's orchard. In the afternoon Abraham Milemore gave over the prisoner to him and told him of the theft. The shirt was initialled in red with J.H. Alfred Atherton Murfin: police constable. He took the prisoner into custody.
