  • Scope and Content
On Tuesday 26 May Susan Quin her servant asked leave to go to purchase some articles of dress for herself. She gave her leave to go to Shefford. She asked Quin what money she had and she said 6s 6d. When she returned Quin showed her things she had bought that might have cost about that sum. Soon afterwards she went to Quin's room and saw several things Quin had not shown her on the bed, the cost of which must have far exceeded 6s 6d. On moving these things she found a purse containing 12s 4d and a shop bill for 13s 6 1/2d. She called Quin, who said the things were hers. She kept the things in her custody until she gave them to the constable that morning. On the evening of 29 May on further questioning she admitted to her husband having taken one sovereign, and later admitted having previously taken another sovereign.
