- Scope and ContentAnn Deverell: on the afternoon of 25 September, she had a candlestick, a towel, a tin rack and a quantity of soda in her washroom. She witnessed her daughter lock up the room. At 1 o'clock in the morning, she heard her son cry out 'police'. She found the washroom door open and her articles lying outside in the alley. William Deverell: Is the son of Ann Deverell. He was woken about 1 o'clock in the morning by the noise of a door being unlocked. He got up and saw the wash house door open. He saw the prisoner run out of the room and up the alley. He called out to her by name, as her recognised her, having known her since childhood. He and his mother found the articles in the alley. Charles Stuart: he took the prisoner into custody. He found her at her own home, and she said she had been in bed since half past nine.
