John Mason, bailiff to Earl de Grey at Wrest Park Farm, Silsoe - the previous day he missed an iron standard to a wood waggon. he was told one had been sold in Silsoe and went to Charles Giddings the wheelwright. He saw there a standard like the missing one. Charles Giddings, wheelwright at Silsoe - on Tuesday afternoon Gillman brought the iron standard to him and asked him to buy it. He said he did not think it was honestly come by and refused. Gillman asked for 8d. He saw it again the next day when Taylor had it. He saw William Plummer go to Gillman's house the next day. Gillman said the iron was honestly come by and had been in his house on the shelf for 12 months. Michael Gillman - he came honestly by the iron. He told Samuel Cooper Mr Giddings had refused it and he might take it back again - he did not take it. He left the iron at his own house. In the morning he saw William Plummer go by and asked him to buy it - Plummer gave him 4d for it. Samuel Cooper told him he found it and had it to sell. He did not give the money to Cooper. Samuel Taylor, constable at Silsoe - on Tuesday afternoon he saw Gillman go across Giddings' yard with something in his hand. From what Giddings said he suspected Gillman had offered some stolen iron to him. He took the piece now produced without a chain form the cart of William Plummer. The other piece he took from Earl de Grey's wood yard. He has fitted both to one of the wood waggons.
